.030. Ohio Bound

This post is going to be short as I am leaving the house in the next 10 minutes. The suitcase is packed, the suitcase is in the car, and the only thing left to do is to put me in the car! Oh...and of course go pick up Kayla. We can't forget about that. She's my road trip companion. Anywho...I'm off to Ohio. I will do my best to keep up my daily posts. However, I am not taking my computer. I refuse to be attached to this thing like an old ball and chain on the only vacation I'm going to get this summer. I do, however, have internet on my phone. So, I will try to update y'all daily on the goings on at the Thirty-One National Conference.

Till then...

.029. loose bolts

Since I will be embarking on a 10 hour road trip tomorrow, I thought it might be a good idea to just get my car checked out to make sure it's good to go. I had been hearing a clicking sound that didn't sound like anything major and I wanted to have it looked at before we hit the road. I went to my mechanic. I say my like I own him (ha!), sorry got off on a little tangent. So, when I took it to him, I couldn't really describe when it makes the clicking sound. The stereotypical scene took place of the woman trying to describe the sound to the mechanic. I have you know I did not try to mimic the sound. He decided that he needed to test drive it himself, so we hopped in the car and took it for a spin. On cue, the car started its clicking sound when he was wiggling the steering wheel back and forth. Before he got out and inspected the situation, he said he thought it had something to do with the steering column mumbo jumbo. Needless to say, I kind of freaked out. That sounded like an expensive fix. He crawled under my car and noticed a loose bolt thingy that goes to the tire. The same was true for the other side. He said that the place that did my alignment did not tighten these bolt thingies back down and could have caused an accident. This could have killed me! Ugh!

I promptly called my mom. Like the wonderful mother that she is, she called Tires Plus and voiced her concern. The manager said that they would check out my car and realign it while they were at it. So, off to Augusta I went. What a way to spend the morning when I needed to be doing laundry! When I dropped it off, the manager informed me that he docked the pay of the dude that did my original alignment. I felt really bad. My intentions were not to get someone in trouble, but to get my car fixed. I realize that, yes, this guy could have killed me, but it didn't happen. I suppose he's learned his lesson?

My mom will be bringing my car home, hopefully it will be ready to go to Ohio. I didn't get a chance to finish cleaning the inside. I suppose there's always tomorrow morning since we're not leaving till 5ish.

Gotta go finish packing!

Ohio bound tomorrow!

.028. crafty complete

My crafting project was put on a temporary hold because I was unsure of how I was going to get to Ohio. Nicole and the kiddos, who I was supposed to ride with, got strep throat. No fun. So, they are in quarantine until they are no longer contagious. So, I looked at air fares...$400 for a round trip ticket to Ohio. That was pretty much out of my budget. Now, the plan is to ride up there with another consultant that is going. She has to work Wednesday, so we're not leaving until about 5 Wednesday afternoon. It's supposed to be a 10 hour trip. That means we'll be driving until about 3 AM. I suppose an afternoon nap will be in store for us.

With my travel plans worked out, my craft project continued. I created two posters for the pep rally themed night to kick off our National Conference. Our team is called the "Pretty Princesses", just in case you are wondering why that is on the poster.

I suppose I could have done better. But, all in all, I think they turned out pretty good.

More tomorrow...

Adios!

.027. Happy Fourth of July!!

I hope everyone has been able to enjoy this traditional holiday with family and/or friends.

My day started at about 5:15 A.M. when I was jostled out of bed by the sound of Michael coming over with his truck and the boat. It was time to get up and get ready to go fishing! So, I hopped out of bed, threw on my bathing suit, brushed my teeth, and I was ready to go. We didn't quite make it to the lake when Michael wanted to. The fishing wasn't all that wonderful either. The fish weren't biting and when the fish aren't biting that makes for a very impatient Jennifer. So, needless to say, I didn't fish for long. I tried to nap, but that didn't work either because it seemed as though as soon as I got comfy, Michael needed in the compartment I was laying on or he was ready to move to a new spot. Ugh. I did not come home $6 richer. In fact, no one did. Technically, Michael did catch the first, biggest, and most, but none of them were keepers, so I disqualified him. We went swimming and had a picnic on the boat, then we rode around the lake a little bit. After the sun has sufficiently baked us, we decided to call it a day and head home.

At home, we make peach ice cream and relaxed. I finally got that much needed nap although it wasn't in a comfortable spot. We had ribs, tater salad, and corn on the cob for supper. What a traditional American summertime supper. I do have a few pictures to share with y'all from my Fourth of July festivities. No fireworks tonight. The community fireworks display, Thunder of Thurmond, is scheduled for next weekend. Why is beyond me, but I won't be here. So, please share pictures if you were able to enjoy some.

Sunrise on the Fourth of July
Water Lily bloom...so pretty!
Bee!!!
I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice cream!
Dixie keeping an eye on Mom. I just lover her paw through the railing.

Enjoy the fireworks folks!

.026. fishin'

It's Fourth of July weekend! Y'all got big plans? My plans aren't too big. I had told my brother we should go to the lake today and tomorrow; however, he declined and said we had to get things done around the house today. So, we are heading to the lake at 5 o'clock in the morning. I don't think I've seen 5 o'clock in the morning in a really long time. Blah. So, now, as I yawn, I'm thinking I should get my tail in bed so I will at least be able to function in the morning. For those of you that know me, you know I am not a morning person at all.

In preparation for our fishing trip in the A.M., we had to all get new fishing licenses, so we ventured into town and got our $10 year freshwater fishing license. Then stopped at the dollar store to get some snoodles for when we take a dip in the lake.

We have made a bet for the first fish, biggest fish, and most fish. Whoever gets these will get $1 for each one. I think I'll be coming home $6 richer. Don't y'all think? I mean I am a master fisherwoman right? :)

Updates on the fishing trip will surely be shared tomorrow.

Enjoy your Fourth of July everyone!

.025. feelin' crafty

I was feeling very crafty today. As you know, I'm going to Ohio next week for Thirty-One's National Conference. Well, to kick off conference, we are having a pep rally type theme. Every Thirty-One team was asked to make signs and such to show everyone we're the best. I ventured into Hobby Lobby (one of my favorite places) and found lots and different things to make some pretty awesome signs! I started working on them tonight, but I'm going to have to weight the foam boards down tonight in hopes that they straighten back out, otherwise, it's back to the drawing boards! :) I'll post a picture when they're all complete. But, I will tease you with a picture of my loot from Hobby Lobby.

Also, I got home today and was greeted with a package from a fellow blogger and childhood friend, Miss Vi. You can check out her blog at Sak's Scraps. She's very crafty. Anywho, she had a 100th day of blogging give away where she gave away a set of home made cards and...I WON! How amazing is that? I never win anything! So, I got them today and let me tell you, they are as amazing as I thought they would be! I can't wait to mail them to some of you people! Of course, I'm going to share a picture because they are too awesome not to. So, if you get one, you will know where it came from. :) Thank you, Vi! I love them! I may have to get my Cricut out this weekend because I think you might have just inspired me.

That's all folks!

.024. monotonous school work

Today was spent simply doing school work. I'm trying to get ahead so I don't have to worry about doing stuff while I'm in Ohio next week. I still have one more paper to write, but I've gotten the basis of it planned out using a handy dandy template my lovely professor (did you get the sarcasm there?) provided for us. So, before I depart on Tuesday, I must get that done.

Hope all is well in the virtual world! I shall post more tomorrow, I promise.
