Day 13

I'm not sure how to describe today in a nice way. For those of you that know me personally, you know the story behind what went on today. Back in October 2005, there was an unfortunate incident, in which I will not discuss in detail because this post would never end, that occurred that resulted in my brother spending a couple hours on the other side of the law. Of course, for those of you that know the details, the reasons behind the accusations are ridiculous. So, after over four years, our attorney filed a motion to dismiss the case. Today, that motion was denied and we were informed that this could go on even longer. How disappointing and aggravating.

So many things have happened since that day in October. At the time of the incident, Michael was still healing from his injuries from a serious boating accident that occurred in August 2005. My daddy has since unexpectedly passed away, this was in June 2007. We moved from our beautiful, picturesque lake house on Lake Greenwood to the quiet and serene surroundings of woods in a small town known as Plum Branch. We closed our family owned Hardware store, which we had owned for about 5 years, in McCormick. I graduated from Lander University with my Bachelor's Degree and started working on my Master's Degree through Walden University. Michael has started working on his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. My Papaw (Daddy's Dad) passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Dusty (the dog in the center of this controversial incident) had to be put to sleep because he was in such tremendous pain that he could no longer stand. We've watched our hardware store be taken apart and sold piece by piece. Now, my uncle (Daddy's brother) has been in the hospital for over a week and we still aren't sure what's going on with him. My philosophy these days is "When it rains, it pours". I feel like I've been in a monsoon for almost five years now. When will the drought come?

Today's picture is of the courthouse in which we had to, unfortunately, visit this morning. What a way to spend a beautiful Friday of no school. Ugh.

The dreadful place.

Even though this post seems to be all about bad...not bad...but sad stuff, I do believe my life is wonderful and everything that has happened in my life has made me who I am today; therefore, I will continue to learn from each day's lessons.

Bring on tomorrow's lesson.

This is my wonderful life.

Wow, that is an unbelievable amount of trials for any one person to go through. I'm sorry for all your losses and hardships these past couple of years. It may sound weird coming from me, but I know I'm not the only person that feels this way: I am extremely proud of you. From the way that you have persevered to your still optimistic and hopeful outlook on life. Keep up the great work!

Thanks Vi! It has been very difficult, but I have been able to rely on friends and family to get me through the tough times. :)

I'm so glad we have reconnected after so many years.
